KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday shared the presidential election schedule with security and defense sector leadership who assured measures for tight security during polls.
A statement from the Presidential Palace media’s office received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the election schedule was shared during a meeting chaired by President Ashraf Ghani, the commander in chief, at the Presidential Palace on (Saturday).
The meeting discussed the upcoming presidential elections and the provincial council and parliamentary elections in southern Ghazni province and security preparations.
The statement added IEC officials shared the upcoming presidential election schedule with the security and defense leadership for security measures during the elections.
The meeting decided that security forces would cooperate with the IEC until the presidential election came to a close and praised security forces job during the Wolesi Jirga polls.
