BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): The United Nations Human Settlement Program is implementing its first Urban Peace project consists of capacity building and development projects in central Bamyan province, an official said Thursday.
The contract of the three years project was signed between Bamyan governor and the UN-Habitat today.
Bamyan Governor Mohammad Tahir Zuhair said choosing Bamyan as the first province for implementing the Urban Peace project was because of its improved security and stability.

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): A civil society group and local officials have voiced their concern about the increase in street harassment of women and girls in central Bamyan province, urging the government to criminalise the malicious act.
A survey conducted by a women’s rights development organisation in Yakawlang district and Bamyan’s capital found that street harassment had increased over the past three years.

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Protesting lawmakers on Tuesday ended their one month sit-in against the newly elected governor but their supporters attacked the governor house with stones, leaving windowpanes of the governor house smashed.
Earlier, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) introduced Taher Zahir as governor for central Bamyan province amid protest by some lawmakers and people.
Zahir was appointed as governor by the (IDLG) last month but he delayed resuming work due to opposition by some lawmakers.

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Hundreds of residents in central Bamyan province on Saturday took to the street against the killing of 24 Afghan Local Police (ALP) members by rebels and criticized the government for what they alleged demonstrating negligence.
At least 30 militants and 25 ALP have been killed and 18 other rebels wounded in Kabul-Bamyan Highway and clashes in central Maidan Wardak province on Friday.
The ALP forces also lost control of 12 security posts. However, security officials said Afghan forces regained control of all 12 posts in Jalrez district
