In Bamyan, an elderly woman and man voted in 2018 Wolesi Jirga elections.

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Though the newly-appointed governor for central Bamyan province has not officially assumed office, some lawmakers and residents have been protesting against his appointment for the last two days.
The lower house members have erected tents in front of the governor’s house in Bamyan City to express their opposition to the appointment of Mohammad Zahir Tahir as the provincial governor.

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Journalists in central Bamyan province on Tuesday expressed their concern about a recent move by the governor’s office barring local officials from giving interviews before consulting with the authorities.
In a letter sent from the governor’s office, local departments were asked to consult and coordinate with the media office before talking to reporters. But local journalists warned the move could lead to curtailing the freedom of expression.

BAMYAN CITY (PAN): The central Bamyan province is though a mountainous region, it is rich in natural resources such as iron and coal mines.
Following its extraction in a nonprofessional and nontechnical way, the Ministry of Mines had to block most of coal mines in the province.
The vast and most important mines of Bamyan are the Haji Gak iron mines, which are considered the largest natural reserves of the country.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Following President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s decree allowing provincial councils (PC)s to evaluate the local administration’s performance, the elected bodies in three provinces reopened their offices, officials said on Tuesday.
About one and a half month ago, the Wolesi Jirga barred the councils from monitoring the performance of local governments. The decision prompted PC members to shut their offices.

NEILI/BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Provincial council members in central Bamyan and Daikundi provinces say the closure of their offices has a negative impact on good governance.
A month back, the Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament, amended the law on provincial councils, barring them from evaluating the performance of local departments.
The lower house’s decision sparked protests by provincial council members in all provinces and they closed their offices.
