NEILI (Pajhwok):  The residents of Kajran district in central Daikundi province on Wednesday expressed concern about the rise in insecurity, saying the town might fall to Taliban.
Daikundi is a relatively safe province, but Kajran borders troubled provinces of Helmand and Uruzgan, from where insurgents often sneak into the town.
Mukhtar Ansari, a resident, said in the last 10 days attacks on security outposts had intensified. As a result, he added, two policemen and a civilian were killed and five others injured.

NEILI (Pajhwok): A roadside explosion in central Daikundi province on Tuesday wounded the Kajran district police chief 2nd Lt. Syed Habib Hussaini.
The incident happened early in the morning in Tangi Kajran locality, an intelligence official confided to Pajhwok Afghan News. 
Separately, a policeman was killed during a rebel attack on a check-post in the area, the official said, giving no further details.
Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed five policemen had been killed in two separate bomb attacks.

NILI (Pajhwok): Though central Daikundi is a newly-established province where formal survey to unearth natural reservoirs could not be carried out, however, local survey indicated copper mine exists in large amount there.
Daikundi was once a district of Uruzgan province which was given a status of a separate province in 2003. The government had recently approved establishment of a mine department in the province.

NEILI (Pajhwok): A number of drivers, provincial council members, civil society activists and shopkeepers in central Daikundi province on Thursday demanded the government to forthwith sack the traffic director who they alleged of involvement in corruption.
The protest held as the traffic department recently put a ban on unregistered vehicles in Neili city, the provincial capital.
The protesters accused the traffic department of corruption and said that traffic officers take money from drivers on one pretext or another.

NILI (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) on Thursday launched a suicide prevention campaign in central Daikundi province amid reports that 15 women in the province committed suicide during the last three years, officials said.
According to AIHRC, at least 123 females attempted to commit suicide in the last three years but 15 of them lost their lives. Another 47 had attempted suicide this year alone, the commission said.
