Women’s active participation in polls urged

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Dozens of residents of western Herat province on Wednesday gathered in support of lawmakers who staged a walkout from the Wolesi Jirga in protest against ignoring qualified Herati security officials in promotions.
Abdul Ghani Khalili, head of the eighth municipal district council in Herat City, the provincial capital, said: “We want the government to stop discrimination and ignoring talented and qualified people of Herat.”

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Over a hundred residents of western Herat province on Tuesday condemned recent incidents of poisoning of students and teachers, seeking the arrest of those involved in the crime.
More than 800 students, including girls, were poisoned last week in a series of poisoning incidents at different schools of Injil and Guzra districts, as well the provincial capital.

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): An electronic system preventing corruption and keep transparency in cases of convicts has been activated in western Heart province, an official said Tuesday.
The program, launched by Afghanistan Justice Sector Support Program (JSSP), was begun three years ago in judicial organs and police headquarters of Herat province but was formally inaugurated today.

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Lack of access to modern security facilities and coordination among security forces were main reasons behind dramatic surge in insecurity in western Herat province, an official said on Tuesday.
Abdul Rahman Pedram, security and districts committee head in Herat provincial council, expressed these views in an interview with Pajhwok Afghan News.
