KABUL (Pajhwok): Several video clips of alleged election rigging have been slammed as an effort to denigrate presidential wannabes.

The authorities concerned, who have invalidated non-biometric votes cast in Saturday’s election, have promised to investigate the videos.

Videos of people marking ballot papers in support of a particular runner and putting them into ballot boxes recently went viral on social media.

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) has already said non-biometric votes are invalid.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Tuesday expressed concern over the absence of election observers, saying electoral materials from 93 percent of districts have reached provincial capitals.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Different voter turnout figures from southern Kandahar province have raised questions, causing cynicism among psephologists.

The figures announced by the Independent Election Commission (IEC) head office and its provincial branch are starkly different, analysis claim.

A number of experts and the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA) emphasise on an exact turnout figure. They argue different numbers may lead to rigging.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Presidential candidate Rahmatullah Nabil on Tuesday said the presidential election might not produce a clear winner and the ballot could go to a second round.
Terming Saturday’s election as full of rigging, the candidate emphasized on validity of biometric ballots.
Nabil, a former spy chief, told a press conference in Kabul said one vote had been sold for $120 to $180.

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) says that more than two million votes were cast at 3,736 polling centres in 29 provinces of the country.
Maulana Mohammad Abdullah, IEC commissioner, wrote on his Facebook page ballots from 3,736 polling centres had arrived in Kabul. He put the number of votes counted at 2,196,463.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Six out of 13 presidential candidates on Sunday said they would not accept Saturday’s presidential election result for what they alleged widespread rigging by the ruling contenders.
Thirteen individuals contested the election amid tight security measures and threats from Taliban insurgents to attack polling stations.

KABUL (Pajhwok): With the vote count still underway, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullah on Monday claimed winning the presidential election.
While announcing his electoral success against President Ashraf Ghani and other runners, the CEO said he had won the highest number of votes.
Addressing a news conference here, Abdullah said: "We have received the highest number of votes and the election will not go to a second round."
