KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Workers in southeastern Khost, voicing their concern over increasing joblessness, have urged the national unity government to take effective steps to address the problem on a priority basis.
Hundreds of daily wagers assemble every morning in front of the Yaqubi bus terminal in Khost City, hoping to get work. Holding their clothing and tools in plastic bags, they look at each passing vehicle and individual on foot.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The counternarcotics director on Sunday claimed progress in preventing drug trade in southeastern Khost province, but some public representatives said drug use and smuggling had increased.
Counternarcotics chief in Khost Mir Nagal Thaniwal told a press conference here that considerable progress had been achieved in preventing drug smuggling, use and production in the province over the past eight years.

KHOST (Pajhwok): Police chief of southeastern Khost province on Thursday said he was building close coordination with other departments aimed at bolstering security of this strategically important province.
Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat expressed these views while addressing a ceremony arranged in his honor by provincial council for keeping security tight in the province.
Bridging the gap among all intuitions would lead them to beef-up law and order even in the remote areas of Khost, he added.

KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Lawmakers, members of provincial councils and civil society activists from the southeastern Khost province on Friday alleged that acting Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi had links with militants and he and other responsible should be prosecuted following a devastating suicide attack in the province the other day.
The death toll into the attack on Thursday in Khost province surged to 20 as two more tribal elders succumbed to injuries in hospital.
