JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Hundreds of residential plots in the Police Town have been sold illegally in the eastern province of Nangarhar, public representatives claimed on Sunday.
Work on the 500-plot housing schemes, also known as Sherzai Town, in front of the Police Training Centre, was initiated eight years ago. But the project came to a halt at a time when policemen had already paid 30,000 afghanis for each plot.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The governor of eastern Nangarhar province has asked the Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) for stepping up work on the Jalalabad-Kabul highway’s second lane and Behsud Bridge.
Salim Khan Kunduzi conveyed his message regarding the early completion of the projects to some ministers during his stay in Kabul, the governor’s spokesman, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
During a meeting with Public Works Minister Eng. Mahmood Baligh, Kunduzi referred to a delay in the execution of some projects in the province.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Haji Zahir Qadeer, lawmaker from eastern Nangarhar province, has rejected reports that he wants to raise his private militias to battle the insurgency.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday night in Jalalabad, the provincial capital, Qadeer said he was against the creation of militias but was prepared to fight against the insurgents in Nangarhar.

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Nangarhar Governor Salim Khan Kunduzi on Wednesday rejected reports that some lawmakers were trying to establish tribal militias in the eastern province.
“After being defeated, the enemies are trying to circulate rumours that Jalalabad will fall into the hands of insurgents and tribal militias are being raised to prevent it,” Kunduzi told a gathering participated by security officials and public representatives here.
