4 campaigners of a candidate killed in Paktia

Paktiais located 120 kilometres south of capital Kabul close to Durand Line. Paktia is of great importance in terms of having underground riches, but the province is neglected in terms of conducting mining exploration survey there. 
Provincial petroleum and mining department says many mines have so far been detected in Paktia but fully could not be utilized. Some of them are as follow.
1 – Chromites:
Chromitesmines are located in ShnaZhawara area of Ahmad Abad, Tanga area of Janikhel, Sinjaklocality of Syed Karam and Makawa area of Zurmat districts.

GARZEZ (Pajhwok): Seven people have been killed as a result of a clash between two tribes over a land dispute in the Zazi Aryub district of southeastern Paktia province, a senior official said on Sunday.
Deputy Governor Abdul Wali Sahi told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash between Hamzakhel and Mulla Babakhel tribesmen started on Saturday.
Heading a delegation to the area, Sahi said seven people had been killed and several others wounded during the firefight.

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): A number provincial council members in southeastern Paktika province on Sunday alleged employees of custom office of massive corruption and demanded an immediate action against those involved in graft.

But officials said increase in the revenue by the custom department was a proof of transparency.

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Due to rifts among members, the provincial council of southeastern Paktia has not elected its administrative board so far, an official said on Monday.

The provincial council has 15 members, who are divided into two main groups. Eight members on the one side are pitted against six others in the opposite camp. A 15th member is independent.

Each group blames the other for showing no interest in conducting the administrative board elections.

GARDEZ (Pajhwok): Religious scholars from southeastern provinces on Thursday called for President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai to initiate concrete security measures, including peace talks with militants.

Clerics from Paktia, Khost, Paktika and Logar, during a meeting in Gardez, stressed the need for national reconciliation. They said lasting peace was central to the country’s economic development.
