Governor of Parwan, General Abdul Basir Salangi was born in 1962 in Salang district of the province. He completed his primary education in his native village while went to Ansari district of Kabul province to get his secondary education.
During the Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan, Salangi left school and joined mujahideen led by Ahmad Shah Masoud.
Soon after the collapse of Dr. Najibullah, Ahmad Shah Masoud appointed him security in charge for the Shashdark, Sedarat, Pul-i-Mahmood Khan, Ganizion, and radio and television localities in Kabul.

The Parwan province has ten administrative units including the capital city.

The strategically situated Parwan is one of the known provinces of Afghanistan. The province is situated 64 kilometers to the north of Kabul.
Parwan shares border with MaidanWardak, Bamyan, Baghlan, Panjshir and Kapisa provinces. Charikar is the capital city of the province. \
 
Administrative Structure:
The known districts of the province include Bagram, Jabal Saraj, Salang, Sayed Khel, Shinwar, Syiah Gird, Shikh Ali, Ghorband and Shurk Parsa.

CHARIKAR (PAN): A huge fire in the Siah Gird district bazaar in central Parwan province has caused losses worth more than 30 million afghanis, an official said on Tuesday.
District Mayor Ahmad Khitab Babakarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the blaze erupted following a gas cylinder explosion in the crowded bazaar at 9am on Monday.
The explosion set off fire at a nearby fuel shop, he said, adding the flames engulfed almost all shops within minutes. There is no fire service in the district.

 
CHARIKAR (PAN): Three were wounded and 200 shops gutted by a huge fire in the Siah Gird district bazaar of central Parwan province on Monday, an official said.
District Mayor Ahmad Khitab Babakarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the blaze erupted following a gas cylinder explosion in the crowded bazaar at 9am.

 
CHARIKAR (PAN): Police have arrested a dozen people allegedly involved in various crimes in the Bagram district of central Parwan province, an official said on Tuesday.
The district chief, Abdul Shakoor Qadosi, told Pajhwok Afghan the men had been arrested from different parts of the district over the past few days.
Seven of the detainees were involved in stealing and snatching 10 motorcycles over the past three months.
