Militant group busted in Faryab

KABUL/MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Six militants trying to disturb the election process in northeastern Faryab province have been arrested, the National directorate (NDS) said on Saturday.
A press release from the spy service said the group wanted to attack election rallies of presidential contenders and storm their campaign offices in Faryab.
The detainees were identified as Abdul Sattar, Ghulam Sakhi, Israel, Sayed Abdul Basir, Sibghatullah and Rahmatullah -- all residents of the province.
It added 150 kilograms of explosives, six AK-47 assault rifles and two rocket-propelled grenades had been sized from the detainees.
Governor Mohammadullah Batash alleged the group had hand in a recent suicide attack that left 17 people dead and 48 others injured.
