FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): “I want to go to my mother and father and play with the kids outside.”
It was the wish of an eight -year-old girl whose parent entered her into an arranged marriage with a 15-year-old boy last year.
Salima, who lives in Madrasa village of Ferozkoh, the provincial capital of western Ghor province, complained about life without her parents.
Salima’s father, 35, gave her in marriage in return for marrying another girl from her in-laws’ house as his second wife.

LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The Helmand governor, who took office three months ago, on Monday claimed preventing injustice and land grab in the southern province.
During a meeting with tribal elders, Mirza Khan Rahimi said his administration was giving its best shot to maintaining security and ensuring development.
“We have received complaints that one piece of land has been allotted to several people. We have also reports that land for parks, mosque and public areas have been sold,” he said.

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): The provincial council head for western Ghor province says appointments to local departments take place on the basis of nepotism, alienating people from the government.
Fazel Haq Ehsan, in an exclusive interview, told Pajhwok Afghan News government departments did not perform their duties in line with the law and preferred relations in appointing new employees.

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Violence against women has doubled in the first four months of the current solar year in western Ghor province, fueling concerns among human rights campaigners and civil society activists.
Last week, three women were killed and a girl wounded as a consequence of domestic tension in different parts of the province, according to the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission’s Ghor chapter.

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): The government has failed to eradicate poppy farms even in areas under its control in western Ghor province due to increased insecurity and a presence of illegal armed men there, officials acknowledged on Wednesday.
Provincial counternarcotics authorities say the Ghor administration has been unable to win the annual prize for Zero Poppy Cultivationamounting to one million dollars for the past three years, as cultivation of the illicit crop has resumed in the province.
